      How to Renewal Your FSSAI License

      Importance of FSSAI License Renewal

      Food business owners who have an FSSAI Basic registration or license should be careful to renew their licenses on time. neglecting to do so may result in the loss of the license or registration number, which could have adverse effects on your company’s expenses for packaging and advertising.

      Expired food license is also treated as the same as business owner does not have any food license. If business owner continues to operate the food business after the license has expired, you will be liable to the penalties imposed by FSSAI. The penalties and consequences will also be discussed in this article.

      The FBOs must submit an application for license renewal before the expire date of the license. Therefore, you must renew your license within the time frame provided in order to ensure that you conform to the guidelines determined by the FSSAI.

      Steps for FSSAI License Renewal
      1. Firstly, the application in Form A (for the renewal of basic registration) or Form B (for the renewal of state license or central license) must be submitted with the signatures of the authorized signatory. Along with the Form, you should attach a photo proof of identity from the government.
      2. Also, an audit report, FSMS plan, certificate, or self-declaration on the food safety management system should be provided with the application for a renewal of the FSSAI license. Such a declaration must be submitted in the prescribed format on the FBO, firm, or company letterhead.
      3. Furthermore, filling Form No. IX, the Form for Nomination of Persons, is a further requirement for renewing an FSSAI license. The company bears the responsibility of submitting the form according to the prescribed format.
      4. Additionally, a declaration confirming to the food business’s compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, hygiene standards, and sanitary practices, signed by the authorized signatory. Also, all FBOs are bound by the guidelines listed in Schedule 4 of the Registration and Licensing Regulation published by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and any further regulations that may be issued from time to time by an authorized person or authority. It has to be submitted with the FSSAI license renewal application.
      5. The authorities would review the FSSAI license renewal application after receiving it and, if necessary, schedule an on-site inspection to confirm that the information provided about the food business is correct.
      6. It takes around 60 days to complete the FSSAI registration or license renewal process. If it takes more than 60 days and you haven’t heard anything from the relevant authority, you are able to continue on with your business without waiting for additional information.
